February 4, 2020Welcome to #farmtalks, I’m Patricia one of the student farmers at the Urban Food Lab. At the end of 2019 I visited Farm.one, a hydroponic farm in Manhattan. At Farm.one they grow edible flowers, rare herbs, and microgreens for chefs at some of the hottest restaurants in NYC, including the two-Michelin starred restaurant Atera. At Farm.one I sampled some of the most flavorful, unique and fresh plants I’ve ever tasted! My absolute favorite was an edible flower called Jambu (pictures 3 & 4) which makes your mouth tingle and numb when consumed. That’s how it earned its nickname the toothache plant for its healing properties as a numbing agent. Visitors are welcome to signup for a Tasting Tour of the farm or for a variety of other classes they offered. Thanks again for the tour @farm.one! And stay tuned for future #farmtalks to learn about other urban farms in NYC. 📸 by the magnificent @carissagould
