Why You Should Join the Farm Share
Why join Farm.One’s farm share?
1. The freshest greens possible, guaranteed, regularly.
The product on our farm that I’m always excited for tour guests to try is micro-arugula. We’ve all had an arugula salad before, but the peppery and nutty flavors that you experience when you have this herb straight from the farm are mind-blowing (I can’t accept arugula any other way now). This is just one example of the difference that freshness provides. That’s the level of quality we strive for every week, guaranteed, on a regular basis.
2. A farm surprise every week.
I’m a subscriber to the Misfits Market. At first I was skeptical about not having a choice of what produce I’m going to eat for the week. But it turned into something that I looked forward to every week. I’m excited to see what I get to unbox each week and it challenges me to try new recipes and cooking. Not only that, you will be the first to try our newest varieties and flavors we’re growing. Your body will thank you for this type of plant diversity in your diet.
3. Support your small local farm
It’s hard as a small farm to compete with agribusiness as it stands. It’s a different experience shopping at the grocery store when you’re not sure how many hands have touched the produce you’re going to purchase vs. having a relationship with your farmer and having knowledge of exactly how your food was grown.
4. Reduce your food miles (and other environmental benefits)
Okay, bottom line, buying from our farm means you're reducing your overall carbon footprint. You're supporting a farm that uses much less water than traditional farming, your produce isn’t going through a middle step of going to a processing/packaging facility and a grocery store, and your food is traveling SIGNIFICANTLY far less miles than the produce found at the grocery store. Not only that - your produce isn’t using harmful pesticides and chemicals (both an environmental and personal health benefit).
5. Be a part of a new culture of food
This is the whole reason why I wanted to work in this industry and started working at Farm.One. Right now the food industry is set up in a way where I could have any type of food anytime of the year. In this new model, we are shifting our minds and thinking about food in a different way. We’re being given what’s available and we’re creating a future of localized food production. Help build this community and culture with us!
We’re really excited about our farm share. As you’ve read, it’s new. New for us and new for you. What isn’t new is the dedication and attention to detail we’re putting into the farm. We’re staying true to our standards and philosophy that served us so well with chefs in the city. To the chefs, we’ll be ready for you when you’re back and full steam ahead.
Until then, I’d like to invite all of you to join Farm. One on this next phase of our journey and to give us an opportunity to surprise and delight you in a new way.
